Generate a Transaction Receipt

In order to generate a receipt for a transaction in CosmoLex, you must use the document template and document assembly functions. We provide a payment receipt template, which you can locate and edit by going to Setup > Document Template > Transaction. Once you are ready to generate a receipt template for the desired transaction, follow the steps below. 


If utilizing CosmoLexPay or LawPay, you can email client receipts directly from your payment portal.

Locating a Transaction

  1. From the left navigation panel, click Accounting.
  2. From the Accounting left navigation, click Bank.
  3. Either double-click the bank account, or single-click it to highlight it, and then from the toolbar, click Details.
  4. From the Banks left navigation, click Transaction. The transaction list will display.

Generating Receipt

  1. Select the desired transaction (if you can’t find it here, make sure you have the appropriate filters applied).
  2. From the toolbar, click Action > Generate Document.
    The Generate Document screen opens, displaying the selected transaction’s transaction type in the Transaction field.
  3. From the Document Template field’s drop-down, click the Sample Payment Transaction template.
  4. The Generate As field pre-fills with MS-Word (.docx).
  5. Click Generate.
    The Word document either saves to your downloads folder or automatically opens in MS Word.

This is the template provided with the system. You can edit this template under Setup > Document Template > Transaction

Delivering & Archiving Receipt

  • Print the receipt document.
  • Attach it to an external email to send to the client.
  • Upload to the documents area of that matter.
