Set Up Matter Level Fee Allocations

You can override the default timekeeper fee allocations and set up other party fee allocations, such as the originating attorney or responsible attorney, at the matter level.

Set up Matter Level Fee Allocations

Important

Use this setting when the timekeeper’s allocation percentage differs from the default percentage allocated at the timekeeper level.

This setting determines what portion of an invoice’s billed or collected fees are attributable to an attorney’s pay.

To override default timekeeper fee allocations at the matter level:

  1. From the left navigation panel, click Matters.
  2. From the Matters screen, single-click the matter to highlight it, then from the toolbar atop the screen, click Edit.
  3. Click Advanced Settings.
  4. From the tabs atop the Advanced Settings section, Click Fee Allocation.
  5. Confirm the box beside Enable Fee Allocation For this Matter.
  6. Click View Timekeeper Allocation.
  7. From the Timekeeper Allocation, click Individualized % For Certain Timekeepers (The rest would be at the Timekeeper level).
  8. Click Add.

    Note

You only need to add timekeepers entitled to a percentage other than that specified at the timekeeper level.

  9. From the drop-down, click the timekeeper.
  10. Enter the allocation percentage.
  11. Click Save.

Setup Matter Level Party Allocations

Important

This setting is based on your firm’s attorney compensation formula.

Firms use this feature when parties other than timekeepers receive a portion of billed/collected fees. Each attorney who receives a portion of the fees must be set up with a party type and percentage.

The matter party percentages plus the maximum timekeeper percentage cannot exceed 100%.

To set up matter level fee allocations:

  1. From the left navigation panel, click Matters.
  2. From the Matters screen, single-click the matter to highlight it, then from the toolbar, click Edit.
  3. From the Edit Matter screen, click Advanced Settings.
  4. From the tabs atop the Advanced Settings section, click Fee Allocation.
  5. Check the box beside Enable Fee Allocation For this Matter.
  6. Click View Matter Parties Allocation.
  7. From the Allocation to Matter Parties  screen, click Add.
  8. From the Role field’s drop-down, click the attorney.
  9. From the Party field’s drop-down, click matter party.
  10. In the Percentage field, Enter the allocation percentage.
  11. Repeat steps 7-10 for each party matter.
  12. Click Save.
