New Features

Increased Default Controls for Multi-Tax Provinces (Canada)

While CosmoLex supports all Canadian province tax structures, we have now increased the default controls for those who are in a multi-tax province (British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec, Saskatchewan).

Occasionally in the multi-tax setups, you may have disbursements that require one tax, but not the other. While we had that flexibility on the disbursement entry screen itself, often the person entering the disbursement may not know the tax requirement. For that reason, we have now added the ability to set a more controlled default tax status for each disbursement.

To do so, go to Setup > List Items > Expense > Main

Here you can edit existing expenses or create new ones. When doing so you will see the following tax status options

Matter Default – This expense will follow the tax structure set on the matter level

Yes – This expense is taxable

No – This expense is not taxable

When choosing yes, you now have the ability to control if both taxes apply, or just one

This default will then automatically apply when choosing this expense from the usual dropdown menu. It can still be changed before saving the disbursement.
